IMPORTANT NEWS: The Future of this Blog

Hey, blog fans. I realize I have not updated this blog in the past two months. I have very important news I must share with you guys in order to help you guys understand my current position.

First things first, my series "Tech World Adventures" will be discontinued. I have three main reasons for this, listed below:

  1. Around the time I posted Chapter 3 of Tech World Adventures back in July, I recently rediscovered RuneScape. For those who don't know, RuneScape is a popular MMO featuring tons of content such as a diverse bestiary, almost 200 quests, 26 skills to train, and more. I had been focusing on my accomplishments within the game, and as such neglected to update the blog.
  2. The second reason I abandoned the blog for two months is because I simply lost interest in Tech World. To be honest, I was discouraged at the slow pace of the modpack with the included addition of Hunger Overhaul. After attempting to remove it, I found I could not remove it without having to start a whole new world. I decided to just quit uploading the blog, despite you guys wanting it to continue.
  3. My third and perhaps most important reason is my journey into college. I am taking a full course load in college and I do not have much free time. I will not be able to upload anything else to this blog until this semester is over.
Now for the good news. During my small amount of free time. I have been considering different mods for a 1.7.10 modpack. I am glad to say I am finished with the consideration process. I am now determining which of those mods I would like to put in the pack. So far, I have limited it down to 87 mods, but I hope to get into a range of 60-70 content mods. This new pack will be a unique pack featuring a multitude of popular RPG mods, while still having a variety of different mods including tech mods. In essence, I would liken it to a "Horizons 1.7.10," but its path will take it far from that.

Several mods I have considered for this pack are:
  • Mekanism as the main tech mod
  • Forestry and extras as a second tech mod. I include this because of Binnie's recent update to his mod.
  • I may add Thermal Expansion 4 if its addon ducts mod comes out before I start the pack.
  • Tinkers' Construct
  • Thaumcraft
  • Botania
  • If Ars Magica 2 updates to 1.7.10 before I start the blog pack, I will add it. I will not add it after I have started the pack.
  • WildyCraft, a similar mod to ScapeCraft. I like this one over ScapeCraft because all spawns are in a different world and it includes a larger variety of features.
  • Lycanite's Mobs and Special Mobs for main mob mods.
  • Twilight Forest
  • The Mists of RioV
  • HarvestCraft will certainly return in this pack, but without Hunger Overhaul in order to ensure a speedy progression.
  • Roguelike and Doomlike Dungeons for the main structure mods.
  • Better Dungeons 2 (or Chocolate Quest) will only be added if it is stable enough by the time I start the pack.
Eternal Isles will not be included in this modpack because I aim to create an easier pack that does not take a long time to complete.

I expect this pack to be fully complete and stable enough to play by mid-December, after the end of the current college semester. I will play this pack until mid-January when the next college semester starts. I still need to do a lot of work on this pack, but it is almost out of its planning stage. Things that need to be done afterwards are:
  • Compatibility. This is a major step, especially with large mods like WildyCraft.
  • Configuration. This is another major step because I plan to add the TooMuchLoot mod, which I can use to configure all sorts of loot tables.
  • Testing
  • More testing
  • Even more testing
  • I may review recipes and tweak them with MineTweaker.
I intend to update the blog much more frequently than previously once this pack is complete. Feel free to yell at me if I don't comply with my promise. =P

I will keep this blog updated throughout this college semester with news on the next pack. If anything major happens, I will post it here. I'll also keep you guys updated on Twitter at @Ninjaofquest, so feel free to follow me.

Finally, I would like to thank Feed The Beast for creating a pack like Horizons. It is by far one of my favorites because of its variety of content. I would also like to thank PopularMMOs for reviewing many of the mods that I would like to put in the pack.

Cheers,
Ninja
